Austerlitz for Little Wars

Glenn is putting on the battle of Austerlitz at Little Wars this weekend.  He sent on these pictures of the troops I painted for him.  Enjoy!

It is very nice to see these figures on the battlefield.  Thanks, Glenn!

Giant Commission -- Prussian Jager

Glenn bought 36 Prussian Jager, 18 marching and 18 skirmishing.  These are VERY nice sculpts.  I always like to see light troops in both stances.

The sword bayonets are especially well done on the marching figures, complete with tasseled lanyard.

This completes the Prussian infantry!  It took me just 7 weeks to finish up 612 figures.  On to the artillery!

Giant Commission -- Prussian Landwehr

Here are 288 Prussian Landwehr for Glenn's army.  These AB sculpts are glorious, but too uniform to my eye.  I tried to give these the look of partially uniformed troops.  The hats are all the same shade, and most of the trousers are grey, but the coats are various colors (mostly blues).

I painted up four regiments each for six regions.

East Prussian Landwehr

West Prussian Landwehr

Silesian Landwehr

Kurmark Landwehr

Neumark Landwehr

Pomeranian Landwehr

While I was basing these, I finished painting the Prussian Jager.  I should have those on the blog soon.

28mm French Hussars

Warlord Games ran a special over Christmas: sprues for $3.25 and free shipping.  I do not usually paint plastic figures, but that price was too good to pass up.  I bought a few sprues as samples to see how I liked their line.  I bought some Greek hoplites, which I did not care for and probably will never paint, British infantry in stovepipe shako, early Russian infantry, and French chasseurs a cheval, line lancers, and hussars.

These are the two hussars.  The sprue lacked muskets, but everything else was there.  I painted these as 9th Hussars c. 1809.

The poses are very nice, and the detail on the plastic figures is crisp.

The pelisses would benefit from more of an undercut around the sleeves.  The faces were workmanlike, but a little plain.

I don't know if I will buy a whole box of these or not.  I may just use these as display figures.
